Blockchain startup Forte seems to be very confident about XRP and the benefits that this digital asset could bring to the gaming industry. A few weeks ago, Forte and Ripple created a $100 million fund with the intention to connect XRP with mainstream gamers.
There are many different Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) that were launched with the intention of revolutionizing the gaming industry. However, Forte aims at bringing a fast and established virtual currency to the sector.
During an interview with Modern Consensus, the co-founder and COO of Forte, Kent Wakeford, said that they are discussing with more than 40 developers the possibility to leverage XRP as a settlement currency.
About it, he mentioned:
“Response has been strong. This has been an incredibly successful GDC for us. We met with over 40 game developers and are in active discussions to deploy the $100 million fund. We’re looking at existing games with existing items and existing audiences over 50,000 registered users.”
Wakeford explains that their platform has been created in order to purchase non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and use the XRP digital asset to settle transactions. Moreover, they are also working with the Interledger Protocol that is designed to connect different ledger and route payments among them.
The COO explains that although they have partnered with Ripple, they are agnostic to the first level protocols that are used to build applications and solutions, including Ethereum (ETH), EOS or Tron (TRX), among other platforms. The intention is to build sidechain technology and allow for the portability of these games.
At the same time, he mentioned that they want to make blockchain seamless in the background since they do not want the consumer to have to jump through different “hoops.” One of the main problems related to blockchain platforms is the fact that they are not user-friendly.
At the time of writing this article, XRP is the third largest cryptocurrency in the market. It has a market capitalization of $12.61 billion and each coin can be purchased for $0.3024.
