One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Brown County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
Elsie Virginia Ripple, 38, of Early, was discovered Saturday afternoon in a ravine near the intersection of U.S. Highway 377 and FM 45, south of Brownwood, DPS said in its report.
It’s unclear when the crash happened, the report said, but Ripple had been reported missing by her family days earlier.
According to the report, a state trooper noticed tire tracks in the ditch at the highway intersection. Further investigation revealed a 2002 Ford truck in the ravine and her body outside.
Investigating the scene revealed Ripple was traveling northwest on FM 45 when her vehicle crossed U.S. 377 and struck an embankment, leaving a large divot.
Her vehicle, the report said, continued up the embankment, striking several trees and a fence before falling 47 feet into the ravine. The vehicle came to a rest on top of a boulder.
